Most NFL Power Rankings try to rank team solely based on the past performance and because of the this a lot of power rankings miss the big picture. Our Power Rankings were designed to be different and give you a real look at who the Best NFL team is all the way through who is the worst Team in the NFL. If a team has a legitimate shot at winning their division but gets blow out the previous week, does that mean that team is one of the 10 worst teams in the league? No. If they win their division they are a playoff team. Our NFL Ranking take that in consideration of who is expected to be a playoff team.
Week 1 NFL Power Rankings
TOP TEAMS:
It's no surprise that the Packers are back at the top of the Power Rankings. Afterall they are the defending Super Bowl Champions. The Packers are almost more injuries than any other team, yet were still able to get the ring. It's possible that this team could be even better this year. 2 of our 3 handicappers gave the Packers the #1 ranking, and the 3rd gave them the 2nd ranking. There is only one other team that were projected to be a top 5 team by all 3 handicappers, and that is the New England Patriots. The Pats received 1 first place vote, 1 2nd place vote, and 1 3rd place vote. It's clear our handicappers have these two has the teams to beat.
WORST TEAMS:
It's going to be ugly in Carolina according to our handicappers. All 3 handicappers had this team in the bottom 3. It wasn't really close. New Head Coach, New Offensive and Defensive Coordinator, and a Rookie is your starting QB: It would be wise to think this team is going to struggle
MOST DISAGREED TEAMS
This is a really long list. Our guys are not scared to make the bold predictions and as a result we have a lot of teams on this list. To make this, our handicappers have to disagree about a certain team by 10 or more spots. Here's our biggest disagreements: Oakland, Chargers, Cowboys, Bucs, Rams, Saints and Jaguars. If any of these teams surprise you in their power ranking its because one of our handicappers has a very bold prediction. Oakland, Bucs, and Jaguars got a lift in the Rankings due to the bold prediction by 1 of the handicappers. Dallas, Chargers, Saints and Rams all suffered in the overall rankings because of a bold prediction.

All these teams were all projected to make the playoffs by all 3 handicappers. This list was also surprisingly big for this early on in the season. Falcons, Ravens, Eagles, Packers, Steelers, Jets, and Patriots are all projected by all of our handicappers to make the playoffs. This seems to be a top heavy league.
BIGGEST SURPRISES
The Biggest surprise has to be the Colts. If Manning just misses 2-4 games, they still have a shot to win their division. However, our power Rankings have the Lions ahead of the Colts! Who would of thought that! (UPDATE: These rankings were done right after the preseason ended. At that time we weren't aware Manning had another surgery.) Dallas being ranked #17 has to be a surprise. This was a team that was picked to win it all last year by most experts. This year they have improved the OL and you have to expect Rob Ryan will improve the defense.
